My first experience and learning in Massage Therapy started years ago while I was living in Bali, Indonesia. While there I was getting a massage every week and soon realized that it greatly increased my well being, state of alertness and my ability to deal with life’s physical, emotional and spiritual challenges.
The healing that I received from two massage therapists there (or Tukan Pijat as they are called) showed me the power of the Body/Mind connection and changed the course of my professional life.
The first masseur I went to was Yantos, a remarkable
accupressurist. After each session with him, I remember feeling that all of the chakras and meridians in my body had opened up, producing a greatly increased, general sense of well being.
The second masseur was Pak Wiwik, an incredibly intuitive and extraordinary healer who said that he learned all he knew from his dreams; that his knowledge was a Gift from God! With him I learned that an important part in the Healing process is to follow your intuition and the power of energy healing.
The work of these healers was powerful.
The positive changes it made in my life made me want to know more and inspired me to enter the field of Holistic Healing.
After moving from Bali to California, I began formal training in massage at the School of Healing Arts in San Diego, becoming a Certified Massage Technician in 1994. Following that, I completed an additional two years of training at Mueller College of Holistic Studies, obtaining my Holistic Health Practitioner degree in 2001. In 2002, I trained in CranioSacral Therapy at the International Professional School of Bodywork. In 2005, I obtained my National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Most recently, in 2008, I received the basic training in Visceral Manipulation, at the Barral Institute. In 2012 I obtained a Certification in Nutritional Counseling from the Global College of Natural Medicine.
I have been in practice now for 25years and have continued to focus on the Body/Mind connection. I believe bodywork goes beyond attending to muscles; it also promotes realignment with the Universal Life Energy force. My intention is to create the conditions for this realignment so that each individual has the opportunity to reach his/her ultimate potential.
